HBO Finally Discloses First Photos From Its Underproduction of ‘Deadwood’ Movie

Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly has showcased two photos from the HBO upcoming production, ‘Deadwood movie’, featuring Ian McShane’s Al Swearengen at the Gem Theater bar, and Timothy Olyphant’s Seth Bullock on the Deadwood, South Dakota, streets.

Deadwood Photos: A Journey From TV Series To A Feature Film

The film, as well as the TV series, is set in a mining town in the post-Civil War years. In fact, it is the time when the richest gold strike literally attracts people to invest in this lawless town. The town which is built on land captured from the Sioux. Thus, Deadwood is the conspiracy drama featuring the South Dakota mining city inhabitants; markedly played by Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane.

The first of these photos shows well-proportioned McShane as Al Swearengen at his significant Gem Theater bar. However, Olyphant is back again as Seth Bullock upgraded to a U.S. Marshal.

The rest of the wild west characters are back on board including, John Hawkes (Sol Star), Anna Gunn (Martha Bullock), Molly Parker (Alma Ellsworth), Paula Malcomson (Trixie), Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter), Brad Dourif (Doc Cochran), Gerald McRaney (George Hearst) Robin Weigert (“Calamity” Jane Canary), William Sanderson (E.B. Farnum) and Kim Dickens (Joanie Stubbs). However, Jade Pettyjohn (Destroyer) is the fresh entry in the upcoming movie.

Deadwood, Three Successful Seasons From HBO

Deadwood is basically an American television series telecasting the atmosphere of 1876. HBO aired the drama from March 21, 2004, to August 27, 2006. David Milch has produced as well as written this popular series. Thereupon, the series covers 36 episodes in three seasons.

It was primarily planned to conclude the series with two TV films. Later, in July 2018, authorities announced that one of the films would begin production in October 2018. The film will showcase the period of ten years after the end of season 3. Moreover, it seems that  HBO premiers the movie in spring 2019.

Critical Acclamation The HBO Drama Received

Deadwood became highly popular among viewers for Milch’s exceptional script and production. In addition, it is one of the greatest TV dramas of all time by HBO presentation.

Above all, it also won eight Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe.

In order to highlight the Western era, the series accumulated a swarm of characters like goons, saloon people, prostitutes, outlaws, and the last bust not the least sheriff. Some of the major characters portrayed real-life personalities while most of them are just fictitious.

The script is by series creator David Milch.

Hence, the Deadwood film will reunite the indelible characters after a decade to raise hell in South Dakota state. The antagonism again flares up and old tales take new turns. This time deadwood will be facing contemporary issues with a progressive mode.
