It seems as if even death has failed to depart Stan Lee from the entertainment industry. The latest animated work from the Marvel Universe, Spiderman into the Spiderverse continues the long Marvel tradition of film cameos. The CGI animated movie is in theaters now and its full of Spider-people. Lee recently appeared on Ralph Breaks The Internet and he has also scheduled his appearance on several other Marvel projects as well. But Spiderman Into The Spiderverse Features a full fledged appearance of the late 95 year old comic writer.
What Character Stan Lee Played On Spiderman Into The Spiderverse.
Post the demise of the original Peter Parker, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) seeks out a costume to wear as he takes up the mantle. There Stan Lee makes an appearance as the shopkeeper who convinces Miles that he would fit into the cheap Spiderman costume he has chosen. Thus, indicating, more like a prophecy, that Miles is fit for the role.
Lee voices the shopkeeper who tells Miles, “it always fits, eventually”.
The mentorship of the character; however, remains shrouded with cunning salesman tactics of the shopkeeper and with a “no refunds” sign.
Producer Chris Miller also commented on the appearance of Stan Lee on Spiderman into the Spiderverse. He said,
“In the beginning, we wanted to give him a real place in the movie and not just a moment . Something that was exciting and could honor his legacy and also be funny at the same time. Obviously it took on a whole added poignancy after his passing. But, the spirit of it remains exactly the same”.
Movies Offer Eulogy To Stan Lee
Recent animated films have offered nodes and eulogy to the veteran via their ending credits. Spiderman into the Spiderverse includes a quote by Stan Lee, as he appears wearing his signature spectacles. Once Upon a Deadpool also includes a short tribute to Lee at the end.
The quote in the film reads,
“That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero,”
After this there is another message which applauds the creators of Spiderman, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko
“Thank You. Stan Lee & Steve Ditko. For telling us we aren’t the only ones.”
