We saw some great movies grace our screens this year! They broke racial and patriarchal barriers, giving us a new insight on how the world can change for the better. Some made us laugh, some made us cry. But one thing’s for sure! They were all entertaining to watch. So, without further ado, the following are the five best films of 2018.

1.Black Panther

Who in this world of entertainment is unaware of Marvel comic characters? The best and highest grossing 2018 release Black Panther is the movie about Marvel’s superhero of the same name. This eighteenth superhero production by Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler. Chadwick Boseman is playing as T’Challa / Black Panther in the movie. Other cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman etc. Finally, MCU became the first film franchise to earn more than $14 billion with the release of Black Panther as well as the first franchise to release five billion-dollar-grossing film. Surprisingly, T’Challa is back home to rule his technologically advanced African Wakanda. However, its now a violent challenge to face the foes from his motherland, who want to grab the throne from Black Panther.

2.Incredibles 2

Incredibles 2 is a 2018 American digital genius presentation produced by Pixar Animation Studios. Brad Bird has penned and directed this best film of the year. As a matter of fact, the movie is basically a sequel to The Incredibles (2004). Moreover, it is the second full-length movie of the franchise. The Parr family  indeed struggled hard to restore the public’s trust in superheroes. To do so, they have to undertake many challenges. Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell and Samuel L. Jackson are back again in the second installment. However, Huckleberry Milner, Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener are fresh treats. This best-animated film of 2018 earned $182.7 million in its opening weekend, setting the record for best debut for an animated film.


Coralie Fargeat’s first feature film gives a new dimension to the conventional rape-revenge drama. Undoubtedly, It is really a refreshing approach to a dilapidated plot. The movie displayed a lady who was on vacation with her filthy rich boyfriend. Expectedly, a group of his friends arrived at the destination to take full advantage of the circumstances and the young lady. Consequently, they left the place leaving the women to die. As usual, the victim survived and took revenge with her enemies. Markedly matchless performance of Matilda Lutz and the exclusive scorching cinematography by George Miller put something extra in the movie swoon.The movie starred Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz, Avant Strangel, Guillaume Bouchède, Kevin Janssens, Vincent Colombe. This best reprisal tale hit the theaters in May 2018 and received 81 Metacritic score.

4.Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom

Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom is a 2018 Sci-Fi adventure. This another best movie of the year is the sequel to Jurassic World (2015). The fifth installment of the Jurassic Park film series is directed by J. A. Bayona. Owen Grady and Claire Dearing rescued the endangered dinosaurs at the island of Isla Nublar, off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Moreover, They saved the species from an erupting volcano. This June 2018 release is perhaps the third highest-grossing film of 2018 and the 12th highest-grossing film of all time.

5.The Rider

This April released Wild West narrative has a firm position in the top ten lists for 2018. Moreover, it showcases the best display of pain, trauma, contemplation and survival. Written, produced and directed by Chloé Zhao, the film stars a real horse with Brady Jandreau, Lilly Jandreau, Tim Jandreau, Lane Scott, and Cat Clifford. The film magnificently showcased the landscapes of South Dakota. In fact, the movie was based on a true story that revolves around a rodeo cowboy who met an accident by felling off from the back of the horse and eventually faced a serious head injury which disabled him to ride again.
