It shows two main characters named Andy and Tracy Safian. The couple lives in a Victorian house. The man is a dean at a college and his wife teaches art to children. The couple wants to have children. Andy gets introduced to an amazing surgeon named Jed Hill who saves a life of a student on the campus. Both men get along upon finding that they had attended high school together. Moreover, Andy also brings Jed home and gives him the third floor of their house. All of this is not appreciated by Tracy.

Things turn upside down when Andy learns about Tracy’s surgery where her ovaries are removed by Jed. The movie takes the most unexpected turn afterward leaving the audience in complete shock and amazement. What a sad man. What brief glory. What an enthralling film, 166 minutes, and it races past. There’s a match here between Scorsese and his subject, perhaps because the director’s own life journey allows him to see Howard Hughes with insight, sympathy–and, up to a point, with admiration.
