Rejoice Supernatural fans! For the fan-favorite Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays John Winchester, is set to return to Supernatural for it’s 300th episode. The announcement arrived on Wednesday.

During the initial seasons, we didn’t get to see that much of Jeffrey Dean Morgan unfortunately. He only appeared on a total of 12 episodes, with his presence always being quite a mystery. We last saw John Winchester on the season 2 finale almost 11 years ago! The first two seasons even revolved around the Dean and Sam trying to find where their father was.

The producers are excited to have him back on what they call a milestone episode. The executive producer Andrew Dabb says,

“We’re incredibly excited to have Jeffrey back for this milestone episode, and think fans will love what we have planned for his character… and a few other guest stars,”

Last We Saw John Winchester

In season 2 of Supernatural, Sam and Dean finally reunite with their father John Winchester. But, a gut wrenching and heart breaking moment arrived when Dean’s life was in danger. So, John sacrificed himself to save Dean’s life. He had to make a deal with the demon. In the season 2 finale, we saw Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s spirit helping his on-screen sons to fight with the Yellow-Eyed demon.

Supernatural is not new to resurrecting dead characters, Lord knows how much we’ve seen Sam and Dean die and come back. Favorite characters have often come back on Supernatural. Consequently, that led to many fans asking for John Winchester to grace our screens with his presence again. But the producers of the show did not address that before and fans were left speculating.

Seems like us waiting patiently was worth it! We get to see John Winchester with his boys again. Everyone’s surely excited to see him again.
