And fortunately for us, after numerous delays over the past few years, a number of animated and kid-friendly movies that will also please any adult’s inner child are finally scheduled to hit theatres in 2022. This means that you and your family may look forward to enjoying a new family favorite on the big screen. While inhaling the mouthwatering aroma of delicious popcorn and relaxing in a comfortable cinema chair. Hence, if you are looking to watch new kids’ movies in 2022, those that have already been released, or even upcoming movies, then this list is definitely for you.

1. Luck

Kick starting this list of new kids’ movies in 2022 is this Peggy Holmes directorial animated film written by Kiel Murray. The film hit theatres and was simultaneously released on Apple TV+ on August 5th, 2022. The movie is the first animated production by Skydance Animation. It stars the voices of Simon Pegg, Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Flula Borg, Lil Rel Howery, Colin O’Donoghue, and John Ratzenberger in addition to Eva Noblezada.

Sam Greenfield, the world’s unluckiest person, is the focus of this narrative. She finds herself in an unexpected “Land of Luck”, where she must band together with the mythical creatures to change her luck. The movie garnered mixed reviews from critics. They praised the voice acting and animation but criticized the worldbuilding, narrative, and lack of innovation.

2. DC League of Super-Pets

The DC Comics superhero group Legion of Super-Pets is the basis of the “DC League of Super-Pets”. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, and Keanu Reeves. It is directed by Jared Stern, who also co-wrote the script with John Whittington. Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC League of Super-Pets was theatrically released in the US on July 29, 2022. The film will also be available to stream on HBO Max from 14th September 2022.

The plot revolves around the pets of a few of the DC Universe’s most famous characters. In the film, children are introduced to Ace the Bat-Hound, the canine companion of Batman. They are also introduced to Krypto the Superdog, the Labrador retriever companion of Superman. On a $90 million budget, the movie has made $130.4 million in international box office revenue despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. If you are looking for new family movies in 2022 or new kids’ movies in 2022 then this film is for you.

3. Minions: Rise of Gru

Another addition to the new kids’ movies 2022 is this Kyle Balda directorial. It is written by Matthew Fogel, produced by Illumination, and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the fifth overall installment in the Despicable Me franchise and the follow-up to the spin-off prequel Minions (2015). In the film, Steve Carell reprises his role as Gru, while Pierre Coffin plays the Minions, alongside Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, and Russell Brand who lend their voices to other characters. In the movie, an 11-year-old Gru plots to use his Minions to become a supervillain. This results in a confrontation with the Vicious 6.

Minions: The Rise of Gru was released by Universal Pictures in America on July 1, 2022, following a two-year delay brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic. The movie had its global premiere on June 13, 2022, at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The film is scheduled to release on NBC’s peacock sometime soon.

4. Pinocchio

Robert Zemeckis will be directing the upcoming American musical adventure movie Pinocchio from a screenplay Zemeckis co-wrote with Chris Weitz. This Walt Disney Pictures production is a live-action remake of the studio’s 1940 animated feature of the same name, which was based on Carlo Collodi’s 1883 Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. The film follows a blue fairy in an Italian village who gives life to the wooden puppet Pinocchio. Pinnochio yearns to be a real boy while seeking adventure. Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, Giuseppe Battiston, and Luke Evans are the movie’s main actors. Voices in the film are provided by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Keegan-Michael Key. 5. Hocus Pocus 2

The upcoming new kids’ movies in 2022 include this fantasy comedy-horror movie called Hocus Pocus 2. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, directed by Anne Fletcher, and written by Jen D’Angelo. In this 1993 follow-up to Hocus Pocus, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones return in their original roles, while Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, and Sam Richardson join in playing new characters. The story shows three high school kids who must cooperate to try and stop the Sanderson sisters, who have returned to modern-day Salem, 29 years following the occurrences of Hocus Pocus (1993). 6. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is also one of the new kids’ movies 2022 which comes from directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon, it is a live-action/animated comedy film with a screenplay by William Davies. Shawn Mendes plays the title character in the film, which also stars Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Winslow Fegley, Scoot McNairy, and Brett Gelman. The film follows a young kid named Josh who moved to New York with his family and is finding it difficult to adjust to a new place. However, all that changes when he encounters Lyle, a singing saltwater crocodile. 7. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

This Shrek spin-off and sequel to Puss in Boots (2011) directed by Joel Crawford with co-direction by Januel Mercado is another one of the upcoming kids’ movies. The film witnesses Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas reprise their roles as Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws, respectively. Alongside them are star actors like Olivia Colman, Harvey Guillén, Samson Kayo, Wagner Moura, Anthony Mendez, John Mulaney, and Florence Pugh.

The story shows Puss in Boots as learns that his love of exploration has cost him his lives i.e. he has used up eight out of his nine lives. Puss embarks on a heroic quest to recover his nine lives and locate the legendary Last Wish. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is produced by DreamWorks Animation and is all set to be released all across the US on December 21, 2022, by Universal Pictures. 8. Strange World

This inclusion in the upcoming new kids’ movies 2022 is an American computer-animated adventure movie distributed by Walt Disney Pictures and made by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The 61st animated movie made by the company comes from director Don Hall, it is written as well as co-directed by Qui Nguyen. Jake Gyllenhaal, Jaboukie Young-White, Gabrielle Union, Lucy Liu, and Dennis Quaid lend their voices to the movie, which centers on the Clades, a renowned family of explorers who are sent on a journey to a mystery planet that is home to bizarre living forms. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures plans to release Strange World in the United States on November 23, 2022. Watch the trailer here.
