The Punisher was a refreshingly bold and in-your-face and much needed season when it came out. The end of season 1 ended quite fittingly. However, with the Defenders coming out and all seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist green lit, it seemed, season 2 was possible. And after over a year, the show was a part of the Netflix teaser in which they showcased the programs that will be releasing in 2019.

The Punisher Release Date

According to the teaser trailer snippet, the show will release in January.

No set release date has been announced yet. However, it is a comfort to see that the show did not get cancelled. Or get pulled off by the network.

The Cancellation Trend

It has been a very moving year for Marvel fans. It has ended, one but three Marvel heroes series.

The First One Down

So, why are we so relieved that the season 2 of The Punisher is happening on Netflix. That’s because Netflix has cancelled all major Marvel shows. One after the other. After the release of Iron Fist, it came as a surprise and a shock that the show was cancelled. Especially knowing that the season 2 had a lot better that Iron Fist season 1.

Luke Cage Follows

Even people’s beloved ‘hero in hoodie’ saw an end. Just about a month after Iron Fist was cancelled, so was Luke Cage. They announced that there will be no more season of Luke Cage on Netflix. Hearts were breaking all over the next project for them.

Daredevil Sees an End

Beyond everyone’s expectations, the favorite devil of Hell’s Kitchen was set to offer a refreshing third season. After the season was not even completely running that they announced that it had been cancelled. Devastated.

So it was natural to expect that the remaining Netflix shows will get the same fate. The season 2 of The Punisher was scheduled. Whether more will be, remains to be same. Him getting fired is like an official ‘shoe drop’. It’s like a stopper to death yet not in living.

The Punisher Cancellation

While nothing is confirmed. Netflix dropped Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil quite unexpectedly. So it is really foreseeing the possibly fact that The Punisher will end after season 2. The reason behind such convictions is the truth. Netflix said that it cancelled the show due to budget issues. However, the bigger fact is Disney’s streaming service. In the works presently, the Disney+ will get exclusive Marvel content. So, they have been pulling off Marvel TV shows off air. That is one of the biggest reasons why so many expect that The Punisher season 2 is doomed even before it releases.
