Nicole Kidman Generates Oscar Buzz for ‘Boy Erased’
While attending the star studded event at Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards in Sydney, Nicole Kidman won the best supporting actress for her role in her new film Boy Erased. And very quickly, this generated Oscar buzz. But the actress is still not quite so sure whether she will win it this time or not. Nicole Kidman claimed that she really had no idea. What was more important, and the main point was that these films needed support. They were smaller films, and they could actually use support in all possible forms. Before accepting her award, Nicole Kidman said that these films were facing a hard time right now. It was harder to make them, and grab audiences for them.
While discussing smaller films like her Boy Erased, Nicole Kidman added that,
You know, I’m also in Aquaman (blockbuster film). That is not hard to get made. It’s a whole different thing and it’s nice to be fun. But this is where you go ‘please go and see these movies’ because otherwise we won’t have the chance to make them anymore.
In this critically acclaimed movie, Nicole Kidman stars along with Joel Edgerton and Russell Crowe. Edgerton also directed Boy Erased. This film narrated the story of Lucas Hedges as 21-year-old Jared Eamons, who is enrolled into a gay conversion therapy program by his parents.
Nicole Kidman surely deserves appreciation for her role in Boy Erased. Previously, she was awarded an Oscar in 2002 for her incredible performance in The Hours. Apart from this, she has four Golden Globe Awards, two Emmy Awards and a British Academy Film Award.
