Netflix Cancels Daredevil after 3 Seasons
The popular streaming service Netflix has cancelled Marvel Studio’s Daredevil after running it for three seasons. Although they are not taking the existing ones off, it will not be renewed for a fourth one. This has been officially confirmed by Netflix who released a statement about their decision to drop Daredevil. The news comes off as bit of a shock and disappointment- the third season was launched only a month ago. But fortunately, Netflix won’t be getting rid of the Daredevil character altogether. Apparently, it will live on for future Marvel projects that the streaming service might choose to air. But let’s just move on to the fact that Netflix seems to be axing a lot many Marvel projects recently. And Daredevil comes just after it cancelled off “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage”.
Netflix Axes Another Marvel Project- ‘Daredevil’
There is a latest addition to the list of Marvel projects that Netflix decided to axe. Following “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage” is Daredevil. The streaming giant will not renew the series for a season 4. In a statement released, they claim that they wanted to close this chapter on a high note. And that the company realizes it might be very hard for the fans. The statement read that,
Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note.
Netflix thanked its partners at Marvel including show runner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself. It further thanked all the fans that supported this show over the course of many years. Although Netflix made this decision, the three already released seasons will remain on the service. Other Marvel shows are going to welcome Daredevil’s character into their own mini-universes.
Marvel has reciprocated the same sentiment by releasing a statement that claims,
We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.
Fans are hoping that with the Disney streaming service in the making, Daredevil will find another life soon.
Fans React to Netflix Cancelling Daredevil
Needless to say, fans are disappointed that Netflix has removed another Marvel project from the streaming platform. Disgruntled fans took to twitter to let out their feelings.
