Adam Levine Conflicted on Doing Superbowl Performance, Cardi B Isn’t
Back in September, news outlets confirmed that Maroon 5 was booked for the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Although NFL has not officially announced that the band will take up the stage, the news has been out. But ever since then, rumors circulated that singers like Rihanna had passed up on the Superbowl performance. And this decision was taken to support Colin Kaepernick who was blacklisted for taking a knee during the national anthem. Recently, when the Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine discussed his plans for the Superbowl performance. And now that Cardi B has refused to be in on it, Levine is still conflicted on what he wants to do. Naturally, Adam Levine knows that without Cardi B, there would be no charm to Girls Like You.
Many celebrities joined together to protest against NFL after it banned Colin Kaepernick. The top footballer decided to protest against police brutality by refusing to stand up for the national anthem. And even after getting blacklisted, Kaepernick enjoyed major popularity especially after Nike chose to hire him for its new campaign. He even hung out with Mariah Carey.
Will Cardi B Join Adam Levin For Superbowl Performance?
In September, rumors surfaced that NFL had chosen Maroon 5 for the Superbowl performance. They did not confirm anything saying that it was Superbowl tradition to speculate the performers for that day. After the success of Justin Timberlake last year, a source confirmed that Maroon 5 had accepted the offer for this year. With these Maroon 5 rumors, the NFL bosses got their share of criticism. Fans were concerned why the Atlanta hip-hop artist was not taken on board when the game was to be held in Atlanta this year.
The frontman for Maroon 5- Adam Levine is still conflicted over the Superbowl Performance. Previously, it was speculated that Cardi B would get in with the band to perform their No. 1 smash “Girls Like You.” But it was revealed that she claimed that the only way she would come back would be if NFL brought back Colin Kaepernick. But obviously, Adam Levine does not want to consider how the song will look like without Cardi B’s verse. He claims to have begged her to do this song because it was vital. And that he was sure that she’ll bring a whole new feel to the song.
So, Adam Levine is carefully formulating a lot many things about the Superbowl performance. And Cardi B is definitely in on talks. But celebrities like Rihanna have turned it down while Amy Schumer urged Maroon 5 to step down. In fact, an online petition with 63,000 signatures encouraged the band to cancel it out.
Let’s see if Cardi B gets in on this because with so many performances in the coming months, and baby Kulture, the rapper has less time than ever! Plus, there’s news buzzing that Colin Kaepernick might get a chance to play in the field yet again!
