0 117

When Thanos made his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), fans were losing their minds! And introducing him in the mid-credits of The Avengers was a stroke of genius from Marvel. And with that short clip, they effectively set up the entirety of MCU Phase 1 to 3!

Thanos made the MCU tremble

While Thanos was not the main villain of MCU Phase 1, his introduction nonetheless ensured the interlinking of all Marvel heroes and villains. And once Phase 1 effectively set up backstories, Phase 2 was ready to go. Enter—Thanos.

Now, any good hero needs an equally convincing villain. So, what do you do when you have multiple great heroes? And the MCU answered that question with a single villain who could take them all on. And Thanos became the core threat for 2 whole phases of the MCU! As a result of his intergalactic conquest, everyone from Iron Man to even Loki had to work together to stop him.

And despite his formal introduction coming in Avengers: Infinity War, every MCU hero and villain’s character was developing towards a final showdown with Thanos. As a result, “Thanos-level threat” has become a term.

So, with a villain as strong and dangerous as Thanos has gone, where does MCU go from here?

Phase 4 introduces new villains

Kang The Conqueror

  • Kang The Conqueror — Loki
    • This MCU villain is an inter dimensional conqueror! And he is set to appear in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Step aside, Thanos. Intergalactic conquest is sooo Phase 3.

  • Arishem The JudgeThe Eternals
    • The literal creator of the universe in the MCU. And this includes Thanos’s precious infinity stones! And the Eternals teased his vendetta against earth. So, this will be one heck of a threat!
USAgent and Madame Hydra

  • The Dark AvengersThe Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Black Widow, Shang-Chi
    • A whole team of anti-Avengers. Yikes! And these reverse Avengers so far include USAgent (evil Captain America), Madame Hydra (evil Nick Fury), Yelena Belova (evil Black Widow), Agatha Harkness (evil Scarlet Witch), and Abomination (evil Hulk). So, Avengers fighting their evil twins would certainly be a Thanos-level threat in the MCU.
Scarlet Witch
  • Scarlet WitchWandaVision
    • The Scarlet Witch had fans stunned. And (spoiler alert) her introduction at the end of WandaVision could set up some serious problems within the MCU. And if she has the ability to start a nexus event without trying, imagine what can happen if she goes to the dark side!
Infinity Ultron

    • So, Ultron with Infinity Stones. We’re sure you can imagine. And if you haven’t already seen the Captain Carter episode, we strongly recommend that you do. And have your mind blown why what Ultron is truly capable of!
The Makluans
The Makluans
  • The MakluansShang-Chi
    • The Ten Rings in Shang-Chi were created by a race of space dragons. Moreover, these space dragons, called Makluans, were teased in the Shang-Chi post-cred scene. What does that mean for the MCU? Probably a Thanos level villain!

The MCU looks strong even with Thanos gone

So, just because Thanos is gone doesn’t mean MCU can’t continue. And the show must go on! So, MCU has set up villains who could give Thanos a run for his infinity stones. And we’re excited to see how they all play into the vast MCU!
