Its no surprise that Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester was everyone’s crush. However, the actor has done several projects over the years other than Supernatural. From 2000-2002, he worked on a show called Dark Angel alongside Jessica Alba. According to him, it was a horrible experience and they bickered a lot. With time, they found mutual respect for each other and were able to work through their issues.
With Supernatural, Jensen Ackles found the real meaning of fame and popularity.
Prior to joining the cast of Supernatural, Jensen Ackles had done TV shows like Smallville and and Dawson Creek. However, it was Supernatural which really made him a star. In 2005, he joined the show as Dean Winchester and stayed for fifteen seasons. Apart from playing one of the most loved characters, Jensen Ackles also tried his hands at directing. After working as Dean Winchester for five seasons, he decided to go behind the camera. Throughout the show, Ackles directed six episodes. While talking about that experience, he said:
“Coming from the other side of the camera, I understand logistically what needs to be done in order to get the shot. Understanding all of that stuff really helps both production, performance, final product.”
Few days back, he had a spat with Jared Padalecki over Supernatural Prequel.
Since the show ended, Jensen Ackles have been working on a prequel show, The Winchesters. While he is super close to his Supernatural co-star, Jared Padalecki, the news of the show did not sit well with him. In a tweet, Padalecki called Ackles out for not telling him about the prequel. While talking about the incident on Inside of You podcast, Jensen Ackles said:
“It’s an unwritten rule that you just don’t talk about s— until it’s a done deal, until the ink has dried. And this was my first venture into producing and creating content, and I didn’t wanna jinx it at any cost. So, I shut up about it. Only the people that had to know knew. I definitely had people that I was excited to tell, Jared being number one on that list.”
Furthermore, he talked about the miscommunication between him and Padalecki and said:
“I had a long text from Jared, and he was really bummed, and I just remember my heart just sank. I was just like, ‘F—!’ In hindsight, that could have been a step that was avoided. But he did it, and it happened, and we dealt with it. And he and I, we’re great.”
In the podcast, Jensen Ackles also talked about working with Jessica Alba.
In the early 2000s, Jensen Ackles and Jessica Alba starred in a sci-fi series, Dark Angel. While the show kick started Alba’s career, Ackles remember his experience of working with her differently. According to him, it was horrible. On Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, Jensen Ackles talked about it and said:
No, she was horrible. [I] told this to her face. I was just kind of, I was the new kid on the block and I got picked on by the lead. Like the worst kind of bickering a brother and sister could do. She had it out for me. It wasn’t that she didn’t like me. She was like, ‘Oh here’s the pretty boy the network brought in for more window dressing because that’s what we need.’ So I was just like, ‘Oh, looks like we’re getting b***h Alba today, everybody hang onto your nuts.’ So it was that kind of relationship, but she didn’t make it easy on me.
However, they moved on from the bitterness and made things better. After Ackles’ grandfather died, she comforted him and the two became friends.
In the near future, Jensen Ackles will be seen in the next season of The Boys.
