The popular singer Katy Perry topped the Forbes list of highest paid woman in music for 2018. And with that, she excelled past top musicians like Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Taylor Swift. From June 2017 to June 2018, Katy Perry made it to the top with a total of $83 million. And it’s an achievement in itself for the singer as she moved from the ninth spot in 2017 to the first one in 2018. Undoubtedly, Katy Perry has worked unconditionally hard to make this happen. With world tours for her recent albums and judging the American Idol, the woman surely knows how to win it. Surprisingly, this year’s list of highest paid musicians had almost all similar names from last year.

Katy Perry Rises From Ninth To First Spot…

From June 2017 to June 2018, Katy Perry earned a total of $83 million pushing her way up from the ninth to the first spot in the Forbes annual list of highest paid musicians. Last year Beyonce topped the list but unfortunately, she fell to the third position with $60 million in 2018. And her recent tour with her husband Jay Z fell almost out of the scoring period.

On the brighter side, Taylor Swift rose from third to the second spot this year with a total of $80 million. And even when she offers a tough competition to Katy Perry, she might have just topped the list this year. But the global tour for her sixth album Reputation will count majorly in the rankings for 2019. Taylor Swift also recently abandoned her long term record label. And signed up with Republic Records and Universal Music Group. But financial details for that are still not made public. So, the 2019 rankings might have a few surprises.

Katy Perry played 80 dates on the world tour for her fifth album. And during that entire period of time, the singer grossed up to $1 million each night. Apart from that, she earned $20 million from being a judge at American Idol.

Jennifer Lopez in the highest paid women in music list, it’s safe to assume that a lot many names from last year just got repeated. In 2018, Lady Gaga and Rihanna benefited as their income from movie roles was added to their total. Lady Gaga took lead in the critically acclaimed A Star is Born, while Rihanna featured in Ocean’s 8.

Katy Perry, the highest paid woman in music in 2018 also topped back in 2015.
