Recently, Billie Eilish got candid and talked about some important things on The Howard Stern Show. According to her, she felt disqualified at hosting Saturday Night Live and hence she was very nervous about it. This was her first time hosting, and she was accompanied by her brother Finneas, and her parents.
Last Saturday, Billie Eilish made her hosting debut on SNL.
While Kim Kardashian nailed her SNL hosting job, Billie Eilish was also close. In her opening monologue, she came on the stage dressed in a baggy dress and called it Mrs Claus dress, making fun of her clothing sense. According to her:
“Some people wonder why I started wearing baggy clothes, and there was actually a good reason. It wasn’t just for comfort or for style. This is hard to say for me, but the real reason I wore big oversized clothes back then is I was actually two kids stacked on top of each other trying to sneak into a R-rated movie.”
At the same time, Billie Eilish brought her mom on stage with her. Similarly, her father also made an appearance later on in the show. During the show, she appeared in multiple skits including a hilarious take on the craze people have with TikTok. In the skit, Eilish played a nurse who is dancing for a TikTok video while a patient is dying in the background. Later on, her parents introduced the musical performance by Eilish and her brother, Finneas. Together, the duo performed ‘Happier Than Ever’.
Recently, Eilish talked about how she was so scared of hosting Saturday Night Live
During an interview with Howard Stern for Sirius XM’s show, Eilish talked about how she was so nervous about hosting Saturday Night Live. She even threw up and cried every day on the week where she was preparing for the hosting role.
“The week preparing for SNL is f— nuts. It’s literally alien. And I mean, I cried every single day of the week, no joke at all. I did actually love to act when I was a kid, but that’s not my world so I don’t know what the f— I’m doing. I feel like I’m terrible, I feel like I suck.”
Billie Eilish further added that the “craziest” part of it all was having a table read with the rest of the SNL cast:
“I was just scared. It’s SNL. It’s these amazing, talented actors surrounding a table where somehow I’m the main course for this show I didn’t feel qualified for.”
Howard Stern responded saying that he didn’t realize she was so nervous, especially during her monologue. He commented on how calm and confident she appeared during it.
However, Billie was actually terrified of what people would think about her monologue:
“I was ready to throw up — I actually did throw up because of it. I had a full-body reaction to being anxious about this the whole week. Threw up on the plane coming here, had crazy s—- when I got here like you would not believe.”
Thankfully though, Billie Eillish felt relief immediately when she witnessed the audience’s joy at seeing her. That calmed her down and allowed her to have fun with it.
