Doja Cat tests positive for COVID-19, cancels upcoming shows
Recently, Doja Cat announced that she has tested positive for COVID-19. Initially, it was reported that few members of her team have tested positive. Therefore, she had to cancel upcoming tours of Jingle Ball, including New York, Boston, DC, Atlanta, and Miami. This is the second time that the Kiss Me More singer has contracted the virus. Previously, she tested positive in July 2020 after mocking the virus and calling it just a flu.
In 2020, Doja Cat contracted the coronavirus but faced backlash for making fun of it
Last year, when the pandemic took hold of the world, a lot of people downplayed it and did not take proper precautions. Among them was Doja Cat herself. In an Instagram Live session, she mocked the virus and its intensity. She said:
“It’s a flu. You just take some Mucinex (a cold and flu medication) and drink water and tea and sleep. That’s all you gotta do.”
At the same time, Doja Cat claimed that she was not scared of it. For this, she received a lot of backlash and criticism. However, the backlash was not just for her words. Apparently, Doja Cat had also attended Halloween and birthday parties at Kendall Jenner’s house. Only a few months later, in July, the singer revealed that she has been tested positive for COVID-19. At the time, she was surprised to know about the virus and did not know how she got it.
Recently, she revealed that she has tested positive again
Initially, she disclosed that few of her team members have contracted the virus. Therefore, Doja Cat canceled her shows for the Jingle Ball tour in New York and Boston. A few days later, she revealed that she has also tested positive for COVID-19. In this case, she has to cancel all of her Jingle Ball Tour shows in Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta, and Miami. While announcing the news, Doja Cat released an official statement and said:
“Unfortunately, I’m sad to share that I just tested positive … and will no longer be able to perform on the rest of the [tour]. While my spirits are down since I can’t be there to celebrate the holiday with my fans in Philly, DC, Atlanta and Miami, I’m doing OK and look forward to recovering and getting back out there as soon as I can! The rest of the tour stops have some really great lineups, wish I could be there.”
It seems that she is really upset about the cancellation of her shows. In her Twitter bio, she has written, my sick sad a**. We hope that she recovers and get back to her shows soon.
