When Shawn Mendes and Camila collaborated on song ‘Señorita’, people started to assume something was going on between the two singers that claimed they were just friends. And it turns out the suspicions were right because right after the release of ‘Señorita’, Shawn and Camila officially became the music industry’s hottest couple. Everyone fell in love with the unbelievably talented singer who were both so genuinely nice. Sadly, a couple of weeks ago, Shawn and Camila announced that they had made the mutual decision to break up.
On November 17th, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello announced their break-up
The two shared that they started their relationship as best friends and that will always remain true.
“Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends.”
A source close to the couple shared that the two broke up because of their hectic work schedules. They spent a lot of time together when they were staying at one place during COVID-19 lockdown.
“They had this intense relationship last year and spent months together during the lockdown in Miami. And they both seemed very happy and looked like they enjoyed having a break from working. Things are different now, though. It’s more back to normal life. They have careers that are taking them in different directions. They went from spending every day together to now not really spending any time together.”
There were many other sources that were explaining why the relationship ended. Some were saying that Shawn Mendes has originally initiated the conversation about it. But many sources say that it was a mutual agreed upon decision:
“They realized they are in totally different places in their lives at this point, and it was time to end things. They’re both sad about the split, but doing their best to take care of themselves, stay busy, and surround themselves by loved ones.”
But a better insight to the relationship will be from Camila and Shawn themselves. And since they’re talented songwriters and singers, they convert their pain and life experiences into music.
That’s what we saw with Shawn Mendes’s ‘It’ll Be Okay’.
The pain of the break-up can be felt in the music that Shawn chose for the song. The song starts off with a melancholic tune and it slowly builds up to express the storm of emotions one feels when they’re dealing with heartache.
The lyrics also paint a picture of the story of Camila and Shawn unfolded
Are we gonna make it?
Is this gonna hurt?
Oh, we can try to sedate it
But that never works
They’re trying to make things work but nothing seems to be going right. Shawn talks about sedating or suppressing the things that go wrong, but even that isn’t working either.
And then Shawn sings that he will make it easy for Camila to leave if that’s what she wants. It seems that two were attempting to resolve the issues in the relationship but they couldn’t. They couldn’t stop the “bleeding”. But it’s okay because Shawn will always love and care for Camila, no matter where they end up.
If you tell me you’re leaving, I’ll make it easy
It’ll be okay
If we can’t stop the bleeding
We don’t have to fix it, we don’t have to stay
I will love you either way
Ooh-ooh, it’ll be oh, be okay
Shawn Mendes further sings beautifully of how he imagined a future with Camila, that he dreamed of marrying her. But that future isn’t there anymore and the pain’s breaking him apart completely.
Oh, the future we dreamed of
Is fading to black, oh-ohh
And oh, thеre’s nothing more painful
Nothing more painful, oh-woah
But as the song’s title implies, Shawn is saying that it’ll be okay even though there is a lot of pain in his and Camila’s heart right now.
I start to imaginе a world where we don’t collide
And it’s making me sick but we’ll heal and the sun will rise
That’s a hopeful message to everyone going through a painful break-up right now. Sometimes relationships don’t work out, even when you love and care for the person deeply.
But what we have to always remember is that it’ll be okay eventually. A beautiful song by Shawn Mendes detailing the emotional turmoil one feels during a break-up.
We can expect Camila to release an equally beautiful song.
