Baldwin also answered every question asked of him and discussed Hutchins, meeting with her family, and his account of what happened on set that day.

I have to tell you, I was surprised in many places over the course of that hour and twenty minutes we sat down yesterday. I’ve done thousands of interviews in the last 20 years at ABC. This was the most intense I’ve ever experienced.

Investigation of the incident

Since news of the shooting broke out, Sante Fe county sheriff’s office has been investigating the case. They’re looking into how live ammunition rounds, which are illegal on-set, made it into the gun. Reports have revealed that Alec Baldwin thought the gun in his hand was empty, or a “cold gun”. All of the guns on-set were handled by 24-year-old Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the head armorer. This was her second ever feature gig handling weapons as being prop assistant, which speaks of her lack of experience. Baldwin still says he has “no idea” how a live round made it into his gun. Hall’sattorney also told Good Morning America that Alec Baldwin did not pull the trigger of the gun, saying:

The entire time Baldwin had his finger outside the trigger guard, parallel to the barrel. [Halls] told me since day one he thought it was a misfire.

And Baldwin believes it’s the worst thing that happened to him when Stephanopolous asked him that, saying:

Yep … yeah, because I think back and I think of ‘what could I have done?
