Gigi Hadid Takes a Punches to Critics That Her Success Isn’t Her Parents’ at Reebok Event
Gigi Hadid claps back at critics for linking her success to her parents wealth and status
Gigi Hadid flew out to Australia for Reebok Be More Human campaign. She launched her collaborative line with Reebok. While talking at the event, she set some scores right. The first one she addressed were critics comments that Gigi Hadid was only famous because of her parents. She also emphasized that her success came from her work ethic.
Gigi Hadid Claps Back at Critics
While she talked at the unveiling of her new collaboration with Reebok, Gigi talked about critics who claimed that she was only successful because of her parents.
What Critics Claim?
Gigi and her siblings, Bella, Anwar, Alana and Marielle are all in the fashion industry. Gigi has been, perhaps, the most successful. Consequently, she has become target for a lot of criticism. Many people have criticized that she does not look like a model. There are claims that she is famous because of her association to Kendall Jenner and Zayn Malik. The one criticism that hits home is nepotism.
Critics have pointed out that Gigi is only famous because of her parent’s wealth and influence. Gigi is the daughter of Mohamed Hadid, a wealthy real estate developer. Her mother is a former model, Yolanda Hadid. Yolanda was also a cast member of the show, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. While Mohamed ad Yolanda divorced in 2000, the siblings have remained close to both parents.
Gigi spoke out about the these claims and replied to them in a statement. She accredited her parents for their hard work and what they had given her.
‘People say that I don’t deserve to be where I am because I come from this successful family, but my parents were f**king hard-working. My dad was a refugee, my mum was on a farm, went to New York and worked to send money back to her family. They worked their a**es off and they’ve given me a life because of their hard work, and I work hard to honour that’
She made a similar statement while interviewing for Vogue Australia in July,
There are so many girls who come [from] all over the world and work their a**es off and send money home to their families like my mother did, and I wanted to stand next to them backstage and for them to look at me and respect me and to know that it’s never about me trying to overshadow them or take their place,
Disapproval of Nepotism
Gigi gave her opinion about people who were really successful because of nepotism. She said,
I’ve worked with them, they suck. So work hard and be nice. We are all given titles by the world and we are told we’re one thing, and we’re flattened. We’re told that we’re not good enough.
Her Success is Her Work Ethic
Gigi said that she has worked hard to make her own name. She has worked very hard to be successful. Sometimes she would overwork herself when she started modelling.
Keeping with the Tradition
Gigi’s clapback is similar to her sister Bella Hadid. Bella was criticized by people for being ‘too thin’ after she posted a picture on her Instagram.

After the response, she edited her caption to include a message,
“(all body types are different and react differently to a great workout routine and a healthy diet❤️💪🏼🌟).”
The Hadid sisters are not taking any criticism easily. They are standing their ground and prove that they are here to stay.
