Months ago, Meghan Markle did a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she revealed many of the difficulties that she faced in the British Royal Family after marrying Prince Harry. One of the revelations was that a member of the Royal Family asked her what the color of her then-unborn son Archie’s skin would now. She also said that a family member raised concerns over Archie’s skin color too. Now, a new book has claimed that the Royal Family member who questioned her was Prince Charles.

In the book, “Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan,” author Christopher Andersen says that Charles asked the couple about the “complexion” of their child. The book alleges that on the morning of Harry and Meghan’s 2017 engagement, Charles said:

I wonder what the children will look like?

Apparently, Camilla was apparently “somewhat taken aback” by that remark and responded:

Well, absolutely gorgeous, I’m certain.

Afterward, according to the book, Charles lowered his voice and asked:

I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?

When Page Six asked representatives of Prince Charles about this alleged encounter, they said:

This is fiction and not worth further comment.

That said, the book does not however claim that Prince Charles was the same person whom Meghan Markle mentioned in her interview. While talking to Oprah, Markle said that a “senior royal” member raised concerns “about how dark his skin might be”. Moreover, she also claims that her son was denied his royal title because of concerns over his skin color.

The book further explores on Prince Charles’s alleged remarks

Apart from this claim, Christopher Anderson further explores the impacts that Prince Charles’s alleged remarks made. He wrote:

The question posed by Charles was being echoed in a less innocent way throughout the halls of Buckingham Palace.

Moreover, Anderson talked about how Price Charles’s words created gossip which focused on how the royals would “look to the rest of the world” once African-American blood becomes a part of the family. Moreover, Prince Harry was also frustrated and told his father that he was being “overly sensitive about the matter”. And Prince William echoes the same words as his brother, calling the skin tone comment “tactless. However, he said it did “not a sign of racism within the family”. The book, Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan, will be out on today on November 30.
