Adele has, pretty much, regained control of the music industry. After six long years, her loyal fans finally got to hear songs sung in her voice for the first time in six years in her recent album 30. And you can tell her fans missed her a lot by looking at Billboard numbers. According to reports, Adele’s 30 has now surpassed Taylor Swift’s Evermore to become the highest-selling album of 2021. And she achieved that monumental feat in just three days!

Adele 30 Surpasses Taylor Swift Evermore, Becoming Highest-Selling Album Of 2021 In Just 3 Days

Billboard reported Adele’s 30 has sold more copies in the United States since last Friday than any other album in 2021. But, it gets even more impressive than that. The British singer’s new album managed to print over half a million copies, despite the fact that there is a vinyl shortage going on. That shortage did not stop her fans from lining up in stores to buy her new album 30 in its digital as well as physical form.

Furthermore, it gets even more impressive considering whom Adele is competing against with 30. She has sold over 500,000 copies and has surpassed Taylor Swift’s Evermore, which had sold 462,000 copies. Remember, Evermore was released in December of 2020. So, despite having a head start of over 11 months on Adele, the Easy On Me singer managed to beat that record in merely three days! Meanwhile, Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) sold 369,000 copies since its November 12 release.

As of right now, Adele’s 30 has sold over 575,000 copies while counting digital streaming as well as traditional sales. This will make 30 Adele’s third Billboard No. 1 album by the time the first week of sales closes. Her past albums, 25 and 21 also spent considerable time at the top of Billboard rankings at their time of release.

Her new album’s influence is reaching far beyond album sales

Apart from this immaculate record of album sales for 2021, Adele is trying to take the music industry back to its roots as well. On her request, Spotify removed the shuffle button from their album page as well. She really wanted her fans to listen to her album as a story, as she tweeted:

This was the only request I had in our ever changing industry! We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening.

Adele even bravely refused to make any music for TikTok while recording 30, saying:

Who’s making the music for my peers? I will do that job gladly, I would rather cater to the people that are like, on my level in terms of like the amount we’ve spent on earth and all the things we’ve been through. I don’t want 12-year-olds listening to this record, it’s a bit too deep.
