Tom Holland Reveals 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Will Be "Brutal" For Fans
Marvel

For once, Tom Holland has been tight-lipped about Spider-Man 3. Otherwise, he is notorious for giving out spoilers that really infuriates Disney and Marvel. But, he has revealed that the upcoming movie is “dark and sad”. While talking to Total Film, Holland said Spider-Man: No Way Home is not as fun as they think, saying:

What people will be really surprised about is that it’s not fun, this film. You’re going to see characters that you love go through things that you would never wish for them to go through. And I was just really excited to kind of lean into that side of Peter Parker.

In the past, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has mostly been jovial and carefree about life. But, this time, he feels like he is facing adversaries that make him feel “like he’s met his match”. And that is when Spider-Man has historically been at his best – facing odds greater than his own capability, as he perseveres with self-belief. He said:

Peter Parker is always someone who’s looking up. He’s always really positive. He’s always like, ‘I can fix this. I can do this.’ Whereas in this film, he feels like he’s met his match. He’s like, ‘I don’t know what to do.’ That was an aspect of the character that I’d never seen before, and I was really, really excited to try to tackle.

With Spider-Man: No Way Home, the journey is going to be “brutal”

That said, Tom Holland is very optimistic about Spider-Man: No Way Home, saying it’s “the best work we’ve ever done”. And he believes fans are in for a ride, concluding with:

I really don’t think fans are at all ready for what they’ve put together. I know that I’m not ready, and I know that it’s going to be brutal.

That said, Tom Holland is not the only Spider-Man that everyone will be looking forward to in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Or at least, that’s what most rumors suggest. For months, alleged leaks said that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be reprising their role as Spider-Man, simultaneously. And seeing multiple villains from the past Spider-verse movies in the first trailer made fans sure that these rumors are true. However, both Holland and Garfield have denied these rumors. So, in all honesty, we don’t know what to expect anymore. We’ll hopefully get our answers when the 2nd trailer is released or when the film hits the theatres on the 17th of December, 2021.
