David Schwimmer is one of the most recognizable faces because of his role as Ross in hit 90s comedy sitcom, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The actor was recently involved in a funny situation. A doppelganger of the actor was recorded stealing beer from a bar. The police sent out a message for information which caught Schwimmer’s attention. He provided his alibi in a spoof video. The Lancashire police have finally caught the look-alike and they thanked the actor.

The Mysterious Case of David Schwimmer Doppelganger

The Lancashire Police have finally solved it. The mysterious doppelganger of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. actor, David Schwimmer was caught on camera, stealing beer. This happened way back in September. A man swiped a crate of beer from a Blackpool restaurant on 20th September.

The Lancashire police sent out a public appeal,

“Do you recognize this man?” the post read, accompanied by a photo of the alleged criminal. “We want to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the 20th September.”

The appeal featured the picture of the man with the beer pack. A fan of the show joked in typical Chandler-esque style, “Could he BE any more like Ross?”

David Schwimmer Gets In On The Fun

Instead of taking offense, David joined in on the fun. He posted a spoof video on his Twitter.

Schwimmer claimed innocence. He swore it wasn’t him. He pleaded that he could not have done it because he was in New York. Wishing the police good luck, he posted the #itwasntme. In the video, he is holding a beer pack and wearing black clothing. Just like the suspect. He glances at the camera as he walks past it.

Criminal Caught

The luck helped. The Lancashire reported on their Twitter that they have finally caught the David Schwimmer look-alike.

They thanked their colleagues at the Metropolitan Police. They reported that they had arrested a 36-year-old man in Southall. The arrested him last night on suspicion of theft. The Lancashire police also thanked David Schwimmer for his support.

The Metropolitan Police responded to the Lancashire Police on their own Twitter feed,

So Many Memories

While the whole situation is funny and serious. It was most amazing to see that David Schwimmer took it as a joke. He could have taken legal action for defamation. He proved to be Ross and joined in on the fun. His tweet amused people who shared Ross memes and moments from the show that brought back many memories. And we can’t help but notice that the actor looks young for his age at 52.
