Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle in The Batman has everyone excited

After numerous production delays due to COVID-19, The Batman is finally upon us. This movie is being directed by Matt Reeves and it definitely is a dark and gritty Batman reboot. In this recent trailer, we got a lot more footage of Gotham’s latest rendition of the caped crusader compared to the teaser last year. And the one look that caught everyone’s eye was Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle. Her interactions with Robert Pattinson’s Batman/Bruce Wayne were something many DC fans were looking forward to.

In the trailer, we see Selina asking Bruce in shots where the two of them were standing on rooftops:

Maybe we aren’t so different. Who are you under there?

And in response, Pattinson’s Bruce says:

I am vengeance.

What to expect from the caped crusader this time

Unlike Ben Affleck’s Batman, Robert Pattinson’s rendition of the character feels more youthful but brutal. And it depicts that maybe we’ll see Batman truly indulge in his war on crime rather than an interplanetary fight as we had seen in the Snyderverse. Pattinson said about his version of Bruce Wayne:

Right from the beginning, there’s a desperation to it. He’s really working out this rage. He doesn’t have much control over his personality. The delineation between when he’s Batman and when he’s Bruce is not so clear. In other iterations, he really knows what he’s doing when he’s putting on the cowl. I kind of like this idea of it’s a little bit out of control. He hasn’t quite defined what Batman is. He gets lost in it.

However, Pattinson and Kravitz are not alone in being the reason behind the hype around the movie. The fans were quite jovial to see Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrel and his incredible transformation into Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. the Penguin, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. Remember, this is not an origin story. Instead, we’re looking at a young version of Batman, who is knee-deep in fighting crime. It is a star-studded movie, to say the least, and now we have a release date for our very eager readers. The Batman release date is set for March 4, 2022.
