In an interview, Demi Lovato claimed that aliens is a derogatory term

While promoting their show, Demi Lovato talked to an Australian news outlet. They said:

“I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything. That’s why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that’s a little tidbit. A little information that I learned.”

Shortly after, their statement went viral. It promoted people to joke about it on social media. At the same time, there were many memes making rounds on Twitter. In the past, Demi Lovato claimed to have an encounter with ETs. According to them:

I had a pretty profound experience on my 28th birthday. I made alien contact, and it was a pretty mind-blowing experience. We were stargazing and we tried to do this protocol where you make contact, and all of a sudden something showed up directly above us in the sky. It was huge lights that made a question mark, almost, in the sky — and then it just like backed out. I realized that my life was probably going to change in a spiritual way, because I have a spiritual connection to this journey as well.

After the alien remark made headlines, they decided to explain what they meant

During a recent interview, Demi Lovato was asked to explain their aliens comment. The interviewer suggested that their fans think they have an unreleased song called Aliens. To which, Demi Lovato:

I do not have a song called Aliens.

At this point, their sister chimed in that it would be called ET. Furthermore, Lovato said:

My fans should know that I do not call them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for “anything”. Even Extra Terrestrials which is why I call them ETs.

When the interviewer further asked that is there any potential for an Extra-Terrestrial song? Instantly, Demi reminded her that Katy Perry already did. To which, the interviewer said that it meant Lovato has been thinking about it. At this, Lovato said that they’re just fast on their feet.
