Ben Affleck & Matt Damon were supposed to kiss in The Last Duel, but the scene was cut out
Have you ever imagined Ben Affleck and Matt Damon kiss each other? Well, it was about to become a reality but then the director changed his mind. In their latest film, The Last Duel, the two Oscar-winning actors play rivals and are feuding. However, there was a kissing scene between them which was writing in the script. When the director, Ridley Scott read the scene, he decided to cut it completely. According to the childhood friends, it would have been their first on-screen kiss. The two actors are working together for decades.
From auditioning together to winning an Oscar, Affleck and Damon have always stuck together
Although we have seen them working together for years, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon met as kids. At the time, Affleck was already working as an actor. However, he could not seem to make friends. When he met Matt Damon, they hit it off instantly. Together, they joined the drama club in school. At the same time, they would travel to New York for auditions. In 1996, the duo started writing Good Will Hunting and lived together during that period. The very next year, the two best friends won their first Oscar for best original screenplay. Although a Ben Affleck and Matt Damon kiss sounds weird, they have always stood up for each other. During interviews, they make sure to defend the other. Recently, Affleck and Jennifer Lopez rekindled their romance and Damon had the perfect response for it. He said:
There’s not enough liquor in the world for you to get me to say something about that. It’s a fascinating story. I hope it’s true. I love them both. I hope it’s true. That would be awesome.
Recently, it was revealed that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon kiss almost made into their new film
After making their fans wait for decades, the duo is back with a new film. Not only are they starring in The Last Duel, but they have also written the script together. According to the synopsis of the film, Damon plays a French knight, Jean de Carrouges who calls for a trial by combat. This happens after his wife, Marguerite de Carrouges (Jodie Comer) accuses his squire, Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) of r**ing her. Initially, Count Pierre d’Alençon, played by Ben Affleck, will judge the matter. However, Damon’s character does not trust the count. According to the actors, the script had a Ben Affleck and Matt Damon kiss written. However, Ridley Scott thought it would be too distracting as they are playing rivals. While talking about the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon kiss scene, they said:
In the original actual version of that scene – the way that ceremony actually took place was that you kissed everybody on the mouth. And we had that in the script. That would’ve been our first on-screen kiss.
Although we would have to wait to see Ben Affleck kissing Matt Damon, it is nice to see them working together again. The Last Duel will be releasing on 15th October.
