It is common knowledge that Hollywood celebrities have to deal with paparazzi on a daily basis. However, Woody Harrelson seems to be notorious about his privacy. Recently, the Hunger Games actor got into a fight with a man. Apparently, the man would not stop taking pictures of the actor and his daughter. This led to True Detective star punching him. Shortly after, the police arrived at the scene and an investigation began. Interestingly, Harrelson has had altercations with photographers many times in the past.
Last week, Woody Harrelson had a fight with a man in Washington DC
According to reports, Woody Harrelson has been shooting for an upcoming TV show, The White House Plumbers, in Washington DC. One of his three daughters was accompanying him. While staying at the Watergate Hotel, Harrelson had an altercation with a man who would not stop taking pictures of them. When Woody Harrelson asked him to stop, the man tried to lunge towards the actor. In his defense, he punched the man in the neck. Shortly after, the crowd started gathering around them and the police were informed. When the police arrived, they began the investigation. After talking to Woody Harrelson and interrogating the man, they concluded that the man was drunk and he had been the aggressor.
Although Harrelson was the victim here, this is not the first time that he had a public fight.
There have been several incidents when Woody Harrelson and the photographers went head to head. In 1995, he had a scuffle with two tabloid photographers. According to the Zombieland actor, the photographers were stalking him and his family at Martha’s Vineyard. Despite that, the federal jury ordered Harrelson to pay the photographers $5000. Similarly, a celebrity photographer sued the Now You See Me actor for attacking and breaking his video camera in 2008. However, the two settled the matter in 2010. In 2009, another paparazzi reporter accused Woody Harrelson of assaulting him at the New York airport. However, Harrelson has an interesting reason for it. According to him:
“I wrapped a movie called Zombieland, in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character. With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie.”
Seems like Woody Harrelson would do anything to defend himself. Next time you see him, keep your distance!
