A few months back, Texas passed a new law preventing women from getting abortions. In a recent show, Billie Eilish condemned the law and the state. While slamming the lawmakers, she also expressed her anger towards the people of Texas. Apart from her, Uma Thurman has openly criticized the law. Previously, Eilish spoke up against the climate crisis. At the same time, she and her team take measures to make her shows sustainable and climate-friendly.
From turning to veganism to taking about it in her interviews, Billie Eilish takes climate change seriously
Prior to becoming a vegan, Billie Eilish spent most of her life as a vegetarian. However, she turned to veganism in 2014. She does not eat meat or consume dairy. According to reports, if we all stop eating meat and dairy, the world will recover from deforestation. More than once, she has expressed her anger towards the older generations for destroying the planet. Similarly, Billie Eilish takes inspiration from Greta Thunderberg and talks about climate change with her followers. For her world tour, she made sure that her fans also follow steps towards sustainable concerts. In an interview, she said:
“So there’s no plastic straws allowed, the fans are going to bring their own water bottles, there’s going to be recycle cans everywhere, because it’s like, if something’s recyclable, it doesn’t matter unless there’s a recycle bin.”
Recently, Eilish slammed Texas abortion law and the state for allowing it
During her performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Billie Eilish lashed out at Texas state. A few months back, Texas passed a law that banned abortions. According to the law, if there is fetal cardiac activity, abortion cannot happen. Interestingly, this cardiac activity starts way before the women know that they’re pregnant. In the US, this is one of the most strict laws so far. During her concert, Billie Eilish addressed the lawmakers and said:
“I’m sick and tired of old men. When they made that s* a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show, because I wanted to punish this f*ing place for allowing that to happen here.”
Furthermore, Billie Eilish raised her middle finger and said:
“My body, my f***ing choice.”
Besides her, Kill Bill star, Uma Thurman shared her own abortion story and condemned the lawmakers. With this new protest, Billie Eilish has paved way for Gen Z to make their own decisions. Let’s hope some change can occur.
